The Voyage
From Tuesday, December 9th to Saturday, December 13th of 2014, a small crew of four men set out for a Pacific adventure on an Avalon Ambassador pontoon boat.
The journey took the crew from Marina Del Rey to Catalina Island, then to San Diego, and on to Newport Beach. From there, they stopped at Redondo Beach before heading back to Marina Del Rey.
Crossing the San Pedro Channel to Catalina means roughly 30 miles of open Pacific each way — swell, shipping lanes, and afternoon wind chop the whole route.
