The Voyage

On August 16th, 2005, two friends boarded an Avalon Excalibur to make the journey from Chicago, Illinois across Lake Michigan to Mackinaw Island, Michigan. The crew consisted of Avalon CEO, Jim Wolf, and Owner of North Shore Marine, Doug Haskell. The 350 mile trip took the crew 12 hours across Lake Michigan and through pounding waves. Luckily, the Avalon Excalibur taken on this journey was fitted with the “Open Water Package” which includes 30% thicker material  along with additional welding and bracing.
